Pine Chemicals

Gum Rosin is derived from the crude gum through the distillation process. Distillation of the crude pine resin yields gum rosin and gum turpentine in varying ratios, usually 4 to1. Gum Rosin is a brittle, transparent, glassy solid. It is insoluble in water but soluble in many organic solvents.

Rosin by itself has low stability due to unsaturation. The utility of rosin resins can be improved via several chemical modifications. These modifications include esterification, hydrogenation, polymerization and any combination of these. Gum Rosin, Rosin Esters and Rosin Resins are extensively used in the production adhesives for paper, paints, varnishes, printing inks, rubber, adhesives, cosmetics industry for depilatory wax and in food industry as a base for chewing gum. We produce pine products with different characteristics, form, color.
